Drum Lessons

January 10, 2010

Hi! Thanks for checking out my blog. I want you to know a bit more about me and my teaching.  I’ll work on getting some live and/or studio video or mp3 links on here.

I’ve been playing music my whole life, drums for 16 years, playing professionally for 9 years and officially teaching for 8 years.

I love playing music and I love drumming. A few artists/bands I’ve played with: Heart of the City, Riverside Swing Band, Josh Dekker, Peter Shu, Jerry Ohegan Orchestra, Kyle Tennis, Jason Harms, Jeremy Sanoski, Tyler Blanski, Breathe Deep, Eric Gordon, Chris Mason, Bill-Mike, CatchPenny, Kara Doten, Jessica Jahrus, Aradhna, Klaus, Caris and many others.
Some churches I’ve played at: Eaglebrook, New Hope, Wooddale, Bethlehem Baptist, Woodridge & more. I’ve played at Sonshine and Cornerstone music festivals, Club 3 Degrees, 400 bar, Uptown Bar, Fineline, many more.  And I have also drummed for and produced a number of studio recording projects.

I have taught and played virtually every drum set style from:
Rock, Jazz, Latin, Worship, Funk, Soloing, Musicals, percussion, India Tabla etc.

I emphasize disciplined practice, developing skills like coordination, counting, critical thinking, familiarity with rhythms and self confidence. All of this while having tons of fun drumming!  I hope to pass on my passion for drummers being real musicians in actual musical situations with other musicians.

I teach at two locations. Northwestern College in Roseville and American Guitar and Band in Maple Grove.  Lessons are $25 for 1/2 hr. $35 for 45 min.
I also offer in-home lessons with a small driving fee ($5-$10) depending on location and scheduling. I have some day-time openings for homeschoolers or for anyone with days available.

Please feel free to call me, email me or leave a comment on this blog.  Hope to hear from you!
